The new Sobe drinks are HORRIBLE compared to the old ones!

    Orange Carrot Sobe

The Sobe brand of drinks is one of my favorite brands of all time. I have drank Sobe beverages for over 10 years, and at one point collected the bottle sticker label of each different Sobe drink I bought. These glass bottles held delicious juice inside that contained added vitamins and stuff like that… but all I cared about was the flavor. ORANGE CARROT is possibly the best combination flavor of all time, and is was my favorite drink of all time.

Recently, the wise people over at Sobe decided to change to plastic bottles so their drinks could fit into vending machines and be sold in more locations. I missed the glass bottles, but didn’t mind the change because it meant I could now get my orange-carrot goodness in more locations. However, in addition to changing the bottles, they also slightly changed the formulas for how their drinks are made. How can I tell?  After drinking the same drink for over 10 years, you notice if it changes.

The change in the drink now makes the orange-carrot flavor taste like a horrible powered orange drink, along the likes of the powdered drink TANG. What was once my favorite drink, is now a disgusting liquid that I cannot finish. I bought an orange-carrot Sobe last week, and couldn’t drink more than 1/4th of the drink because I was so disgusted by the new flavor. This change has also affected the cranberry-grapefruit flavor, which was another common flavor that I would drink.

SOBE, PLEASE BRING BACK THE OLD RECIPIES! I’ve gone from a die-hard supporter to someone who wouldn’t recommend even giving the drink to a pet.

Ugh, yes. The Fuji Apple/Cranberry one tastes like armpit, others have been similarly disappointing since the new packaging.

I used to love the drinks too, although now I wrinkle my nose every time I see the product in the drink case or vending machine. I haven’t bought one since, even though I think the new packaging is cute, the drink itself is awful.

@Lindsey, I’m happy to hear that I’m not the only one who’s noticed the change! It seems like Sobe has been trying to stay very quiet regarding the changes.

If they haven’t changed the formulas, then it’s the plastic giving it that nasty after taste.

    • Grah,dammit Pepsi co.

I can’t stand those plastic bottles! The Green Tea doesn’t taste the same anymore! Besides, the glass bottles looked awesome!

The plastic is crap, they dropped alot of good flavors (remember how many flavors there used to be?). Lizard Blizzard used to have echinacea and zinc to help a cold and now it doesn’t. I can taste the plastic in the drink-disgusting. Orange Carrot Elixir used to be my favorite and now it is a mere shadow of its former glory (9% juice?!) Didn’t is used to be 100% juice?I agree that it tastes empty very much like TANG, you can tell it is mostly artificial. does anyone have one of the old bottles? Maybe we can compare the new to the old. I too used to collect bottles and labels and SoBe was a part of my lifestyle. I miss all of the cool graphics on the bottles too. I think someone bought SoBe and ruined it for us all.Now i wish i had stocked up on the good stuff so i could enjoy a good SoBe on occasion- treat it like expensive wine.

And they used to make new flavors every few months, or at least have limited edition flavors.

I know the orange carrot never was 100% juice, but it was more than 9% (I thought it was around 12-15%). When I was in junior highschool, I would stick the Sobe labels on my binder.
